From The CEO: 2019 VIPTIX State Of The Union Address

Dear VIPTIX Customers,

Good morning! We wanted to reach out to let you know where we have been and where we are going- a sort of VIPTIX State Of The Union Address. Please take a moment to read.

Our First Chapter!

Our ticket business was born over 26 years ago after recognizing a need to better help people buy and sell event tickets while running the Memorial Auditorium Box Office in downtown Buffalo, NY.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s I would answer the phone and listen to a desperate person looking to BUY tickets to a sold out show. I would also take calls from those who had extra tickets to SELL but our policy, like most box offices in those days, was No Refunds/ No Exchanges!

My nature was to naturally help people so I would link those fans looking to buy tickets with those looking to sell. I can’t begin to tell you how many times this happened and how many fans I made happy by just doing the right thing!

So in the summer of 1993, I had my A-HA moment and decided to provide this ticket service in an entertainment and ticket industry where no one was truly looking out for the average Fan! What I thought would be a part-time side-hustle business for me, turned into a full-time passionate business and career!

The evolution of our business.

In the early years we were primarily a local brick-and-mortar business that grew by helping one client at a time to buy and sell tickets. Then the internet was born. We invested in a website at VIPTIX.com and back-end technology that propelled our business to the next level. Although we faced a lot more competition, the secondary market was alive and strong because finally the need to put the consumer first was the right thing to do! To say our industry faced backlash was an understatement. Why? Because those companies that had a monopoly in the industry tried to protect what they felt was theirs. Ticket laws changed. As a business you either embrace the changes or you die. VIPTIX found itself right in the middle of a changing industry and although successful, we find that we are still evolving with new challenges every day.

Our story continues today…

The online event ticket industry was estimated at 49.5 Billion in 2017 with growth expected at 4.5% annually. The big boys have entered the online industry over the last decade so that means increased competition for VIPTIX which has only made us stronger! Our business model has changed slightly but our efforts are still the same- doing the right thing to help our clients buy and sell tickets worldwide. Service is key!

We have experienced a new growth helping venues sell tickets online in the secondary market and in handling international event tickets. Our prices are ultra-competitive to those in our industry and we match any of our online competitor’s prices!

Thank you!

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for putting your trust in us over the last 26+ years and bringing us to where we are today. We come to work everyday for you. Our account managers, vendors and data scientists… everybody is driven to make our ticket service better and easier for you. This commitment is stronger than ever during this exciting time.

We appreciate your loyalty and thinking about VIPTIX each and every time you need to buy and sell event tickets anywhere! Please feel free to reach out to me directly to communicate any feedback, comments or ticket requests at nick@viptix.com . You will find a list of our current best selling events below.

Common secondary ticket market misconceptions – Paul McCartney tickets- Buffalo, NY

Paul McCartney Buffalo Tickets

There are so many misconceptions regarding the secondary ticket business. Let me address a few of the common misconceptions.

1. How many tix do you think ticket brokers purchased for the Paul McCartney concert? Answer: Less than 400 tix!
2. Why were tickets listed for sale prior to the pre-sale on broker websites? Answer: Brokers taking a calculated risk and entering speculative tix. (VIPTIX does not play that game)
3. We got shut out at the box office because of ticket brokers and bots! Answer: True there are ticket brokers that use bots (VIPTIX does not) but the harsh reality is demand far
exceeds supply and it is especially true for this mega Paul McCartney show! Again, a very good estimate is that less than 400 or approx. 2% of the tix were bought by ticket brokers.
4. How can sites like VIPTIX.com or Stubhub offer so many tix to a sold-out concert? Answer: The average fan/ ticketholder now has an efficient means to resell their unwanted event tix. Again, sites such as VIPTIX.com and Stubhub link and provide a service for buyers and sellers.
5. Are Brokers bad for the industry? Answer: In my opinion, ticket brokers provide a much needed service in the industry. In the old days, once an event was sold-out there was no secondary market where the average fan could safely buy or sell tix. During my days in the Prime Seats Aud box office, I would field calls of clients looking to buy and sell event tix. I would exchange phone numbers of buyers and sellers. That was our Ah-ha moment and in 1993, that’s how we got our start in the business. Today, the process is so much more efficient and in my opinion, everybody wins.
6. Ticket brokers control the secondary market prices! Answer: Huge misconception! It’s Economics 101- supply and demand. There are many events on VIPTIX.com right now where our clients can buy tix for less than the face-value price offered at the box office. One great example is the One Direction concert next week at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Any Bills or Sabres season ticket holder can attest to how difficult it was to even give tix away the last few seasons.
